Considering it's a guy who has to narrate as a female through huge sections, he did a killer job. I was really impressed with the way he was able to embody Liam and handle all the accents, but he also nailed Melody. What does Joel Froomkin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book? The writer crafts the book from multiple character POV which is really interesting and helps you gain a deeper perspective on the characters you even thought you didn't like very much. Melody - she's a fabulous bitch that you can't help but love. Fair warning - the language is strong (the f*** word is everywhere - but it suits these characters) and the sex is steamy. This has an HBO series written all over it. the dialogue is clever, brutal and I was totally addicted. The whole story revolves around an young female Italian mafia boss tied in an arranged marriage to an Irish playboy mob leader.
I really didn't know what to expect since I'm not much of a fan of the Mafia genre. What did you love best about Ruthless People? This book is written in the perceptive of mobsters who aren't looking for redemption or possess a heart of gold. This book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18. Warning: This book contains adult language and subject matter including graphic violence and sex that maybe disturbing or triggers for some listeners.
